Registered NGO No A87

Finally! Success! We have been officially registered as Non Governmental Organisation NGO in The Gambia since 5th Nov. 2008. This will give our work a good boost. Our registration number is A 87.

New Signboard - Where to locate us


Our office is at Fajara F section.

It is almost on the second street parallel to Kairaba Avenue. You find us entering the small road between St. Maries Food and Wine and the Shell Station/traffic light. Follow the street straight towards the Gambia Tours parking. Before you reach there bend to the left. There is a small shop at the corner. Follwow this street to the second junction. Enter this street.
We are situated in first compound, having a black gate.

We newly set up a big signboard, so from now on it will be easy to identify our place.

You are welcome to visit the office.
Our Office hours are from 9:00 am to 16:00 pm Mo-Thr and 13:00 pm Fr.

Price for Dr. Adriana Kaplan for Wassu Gambia Kafo activities

Dr. Adriana Kaplan Marcusan, the founder of Wassu Gambia Kafo, in April 2008 received a price from the Government of Navarra, Spain and the Cacja Laboral VII Premio Internacional "Navarra" a la Solidaridad for the work she has done.

Wassu Gambia Kafo gives Scolarship for first term to Bakau School Chilrden

Friday, 5th September 2008, Cape Point Hotel, Bakau, The Gambia

Wassu Gambia Kafo, a NGO in the Gambia, sponsors 10school children. This Friday the board of directors of Wassu Gambia Kafo had invited the mothers of the sponsored children to convene at the Cape Point Hotel, Bakau, to collect the first term fees. An amount of Dalasi 2240 was handed over to each of the happy mothers (names below in brackets). The ceremony was presided by the Wassu Gambia Kafo Vice President Mr. Malamin Touray, Mr. Ebru Collie, Board Member, and Mrs. Angelika Prox-Dampha Manneh, Accountant.

The children (mothers) are:
(Ndey Con) Awa and Adama Camarra, Bakau New Town Lower Basic,
(Fatou Bojang) Nuha Cham, Yaharr Nursery School, Jainaba Cham, Kaddy Cham, both Bakau Lower Basic,
(Awa Tamba) Momodou Lamin Jammeh, Abuko Upper Basic,
(Sajo Sanyang) Sally Joof, Tomorrows People International Nursery,
Anta Ndow, Banjulnding,
(Aishatou Ceesay) Fatou Sano, Bakau Comunity Centre Nursery School,
(Koko Jammeh) Ba Seedy Taal, St. Theresas Upper Basic,
(Tata Cham) Ousman Touray, Bakau Lower Basic.

The board of Wassu Gambia Kafo was especially happy about the results of Jainaba and Kaddy Cham who scored excelent results. Wassu Gambia Kafo Vice President Mr. Malamin Touray encouraged the mothers to care for condusive learning environment for their children as education has become a paramount requisite for a good living in todays world. It was also stressed that further sponsorships would only be issued provided the children can come up with good results.

Welcome Message

Welcome to Wassu Gambia Kafo Blog!

Wassu Gambia Kafo is a NGO in The Gambia, West Africa, dedicated to support the medical sector in the country. It was founded by Dr. Adriana Kaplan Marcusan. Dr. Kaplan, after working over 18 years in the medical field in The Gambia became a Gambian at heart. She saw the enormous needs for support and put up lots of effort to give assistance. Hence she is also deeply rooted in her homeland Spain where she serves as Professor at the University of Barcelona, she was able to get lots of cooperation and sponsorship from friends, colleagues and institutions.

Wassu Gambia Kafo is oficially registered since 2005.

Areas of intervention in The Gambia are:
- Supporting the Medical Training School
- Donating health care items to the hospitals and health centers
- Sponsoring children
- Carrying out research on FGM/C

In this blog Wassu Gambia Kafo wants to inform about projects going on, progress made and latest information on issues of the medical research carried out.
